MELVILLE, N.Y., August 15, 2011 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today added a new wireless router to its line of structured wiring solutions that helps security and custom electronics installers more easily add IP cameras to the company’s Total Connect suite of remote security services. The QuickNetwork Wireless Router can be used as both a wireless and wired router, or as a wireless access point for IP cameras that transmit images digitally.
The device, which can be integrated into a home’s structured wiring system, also represents a new path to recurring monthly revenue (RMR) for custom electronics professionals who want to add security surveillance to their offerings. The QuickNetwork Wireless Router’s structured enclosure simplifies integration in new construction and allows dealers to offer remote monitoring capabilities, even without a full-blown security system.
“Security technology is becoming a bigger part of the conversations that custom installers are having every day with their customers,” said Ray Scott, product manager, Honeywell. “The QuickNetwork Wireless Router is one path those dealers can take to make those conversations a reality, and expand their businesses.”
Total Connect is Honeywell’s flagship digital communications service that allows home and business owners to manage their security systems using web-enabled devices, including PCs, laptops, smartphones and mobile tablets such as Apple’s iPad®. This enables functionality such as viewing live video feeds from CCTV cameras on mobile devices.
The Honeywell QuickNetwork Router supports Total Connect Remote Services video applications and is optimized for streaming video. The device supports 802.11g/n protocols for faster speeds and better range, and easily integrates with any of the enclosures Honeywell offers in its QuickNetwork line.
